White House Comms Director Demands Facebook Suppress “Conservative” Outlets

Daniel Greenfield, The Biden administration has managed to build more of the conservative legal strategy in the lawsuits against Big Tech in 72 hours than conservative lawyers could have done on their own in years.

It started with White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki admitting that the administration was pressuring Facebook to remove content, named specific figures it was targeting, and called for the creation of a speech cartel.

Now White House communications director Kate Bedingfield specified that the Biden administration is using the government to target “conservative outlets”.

Social media giants should be held accountable for publishing misinformation, the White House’s communications director said Tuesday.

When asked by MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski whether these companies should be held liable for publishing false information that causes people harm, Kate Bedingfield said the administration is reviewing policies. That could include amending the Communications Decency Act, or Section 230 of the act.

“We’re reviewing that, and certainly they should be held accountable,” Bedingfield said. “And I think you’ve heard the president speak very aggressively about this. He understands this is an important piece of the ecosystem.”

White House press secretary Jen Psaki previously said the Biden administration had started “flagging problematic posts for Facebook that spread disinformation,” and that the government had proposed changes to major social media platforms.

“Again, I would go back to, there are conservative outlets who are creating irresponsible content, that are sharing misinformation about the virus that’s getting shared on these platforms,” Bedingfield said.

Within 72 hours, the Biden administration eliminated the ‘private companies have a right to censor’ defense Big Tech had been relying on.

Facebook is not only an illegal monopoly that controls 80% of social media, but it’s also acting at the behest of the state when it censors a group that Bedingfield described as the administration’s political opposition.

In those 72 hours, the Biden regime announced that social media censorship is a state action targeting political opponents.

The Democrats have either decided that they no longer need plausible deniability and that they’re going to put the boot down now, or they’re betting that using the pandemic as cover will earn them favorable precedent rulings from federal judges, including Chief Justice Roberts.

But if so, it’s a really big bet.

The Biden administration has destroyed the status quo. That’s either blind arrogance or an even more totalitarian agenda.
