House Democrats blocked a Republican discharge position that would have allowed them to send a COVID-19 relief package to the Senate. 185 Republicans cosigned Jaime Herrera Beutler’s petition, but with no Democrat support, it couldn’t make it out of the House.
I'm heading into the Capitol to officially file my discharge petition. It's time to put an end to the political gamesmanship we've been seeing here in D.C.

Of course, this is nothing new. House Republicans, the Senate, and the Trump Administration have been trying to get another stimulus passed for months. 23 “moderate” House Democrats even wrote a letter to Pelosi in September asking her to continue “bipartisan negotiations” with Republicans to get a bill passed. Unfortunately, Democrats in the House have been holding the country hostage because they want to shove more pork and special interest money into the bill.
All in all, this is just another piece of a ruthless strategy the Democrats pursued in 2020. They imposed draconian lockdowns that destroyed the economy in liberal run areas. Liberal cities allowed rioters to run wild. They blocked corona relief to keep the pain level as high as possible. The idea was Trump would be blamed, Democrats would take over everything, and then liberals would send your tax dollars to them to pay for the damage they caused and allowed. Unfortunately for them, it doesn’t look like it is going to play out that way. If Republicans can hold on to at least one of the two Senate seats going to a runoff in Georgia, they’re in a position where they can allow a targeted stimulus to go through, but can also keep the Democrats in DC from paying for the self-inflicted damage in liberal cities. That’s important because if Democrats didn’t receive some punishment for the self-destructive strategy they pursued this year, it would only encourage them to repeat some variation of it every election.
