After Refusing to Share DMV Data, New York Sues Over Global Entry Ban

Daniel Greenfield,

New York wanted to be a sanctuary state. It wanted to be a sanctuary state so badly that it refused to share DMV data with the Feds.

This insane move rightly got it bounced from the Global Entry program. So of course the New York Dem regime, as usual, turns to Democrat judges to step in and illegally intervene for partisan reasons to protect them from the consequences of their malfeasance.

And I’m sure they’ll find a friendly Obama or Clinton judge to do it for them.

At a news conference in Manhattan, Cuomo lambasted the DHS decision, calling it “extortion” and accusing the agency of carrying out President Donald Trump’s political agenda.

He argued the decision unfairly targets New York residents.

“We’re going to sue the federal government,” said Cuomo, a Democrat. “We’re going to disclose this political intrusion into government, this ham-handed political tactic that once again hurts New Yorkers to make their political point.”

Uh no, Andy. You did this.

When the law took effect, the DMV blocked ICE and the Border Patrol from accessing its databases, which contain photos, vehicle registration information and some criminal history that federal immigration agencies had access to for years, according to the DHS.

Because the DHS no longer has access, it can’t adequately perform a background check for New York residents applying for the Trusted Traveler Programs, the agency said.

If Cuomo wants to fix this, start sharing data again. You can’t block law enforcement from accessing your data and then expect New Yorkers to get clearance based on the data that you’re refusing to provide.

It doesn’t work. Even Mario’s idiot son ought to be able to grasp that.

Neither James nor Cuomo shed much light on their legal strategy, though both spoke of how the law targets New York residents.

Because they have thought of one yet. And James is too busy targeting the NRA in illegal punitive lawsuits to be able to seriously complain about political vendettas and unequal treatment.

But now let’s hear some whining from the elites at CNN.

CNN – In suspending Global Entry, a spiteful Trump makes us all less safe

Actually Global Entry makes us less safe. It does provide convenience to some. The tradeoff for that convenience is providing information. Cuomo chose to stop providing information. That made Global Entry for New Yorkers too unsafe to continue.

Ninety seconds. That’s my record for getting through border controls at John F. Kennedy International Airport, armed with my Global Entry card. Customs took an additional two minutes (Global Entry card holders have their own line). This streamlined processing by the Trusted Traveler program allowed me to plan same-day business, rather than spend hours in line.

That’s convenient for you, but how does Ruth spending less time on line make America safer?

Trump’s action will place vetted and non-vetted travelers together in lines for protracted periods of time. “This makes all air travelers less safe,” tweeted Marco Lopez, who served as CBP chief of staff when Global Entry program launched.

So the theory is that a terrorist will wait in line to strike? I don’t think so. This is a stupid argument. Any terrorist who gets this far will probably not be carrying an assault rifle. And if he is, he can open fire in baggage claim.

What really gets Ruth’s goat is the discomfort of having to spend hours on line with the great unwashed to get into America because of her support for illegal migration.

Oh, the irony.
